Patinkin, Mikveh, and more in Folksbiene benefit, NYC, Jun 16

MikvehMikveh will be making our Carnegie Hall debut on June 16, 2005, 8pm in a benefit concert for the Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre. The headliner will be the beloved Theater, Concert, Film and TV star Mandy Patinkin and his celebrated "Mamaloshen" concert of Yiddish songs.

This historic and exciting gala will bring together the diverse community of supporters who share in a love of Yiddish culture and a desire to ensure its continued dynamic presence in our lives. The concert will also feature appearances by the internationally acclaimed clarinet virtuoso David Krakauer, the fabulous New Yiddish Chorale directed by Zalmen Mlotek, soloists Cantor Jack Mendelson, and Cantor Rebecca Garfein and a Grand Chorus of New York and New Jersey school children who will join Mandy Patinkin on the stage of Carnegie Hall to sing in Yiddish and to have an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.

The purpose of this concert is to raise funds for the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater to be able to continue presenting its gems of Yiddish drama, music and literature for audiences of all ages, and in communities throughout America.

The great film and theater stars Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach will be honored, and the chair of the evening will be the author of Fiddler On The Roof Joseph Stein, and his wife Elisa Stein. Co-chairs will be Mark and Anita Sarna, and Mark and Audrey Mlotek.

The Folksbiene needs your support.
