Freylach Time Klezmer Band plays "Jewgrass", Durham, NC, 20 Dec 2008

I'm excited to tell you about a new musical adventure that Freylach Time Klezmer Band and some local Old Time musicians are planning. We are playing music together, experimenting with blending the genres and creating some very fun music. Our first public event will be a free concert Sat Dec 20 at the Broad Street Cafe in Durham. Music begins at 8 PM. You can buy dinner, snacks, or beer, or just hang out and enjoy the "Jewgrass" music. Hope to see you there!

    Celebrating the rich diversity of Jewish music, Pomegranates & Figs showcases the infectious exuberance of klezmer, Yiddish folk song, and the soulful traditions of Sephardic music. From the creators of Klezmer Mania!, this triple bill features the driving, danceable rhythms of klezmer band The Gonifs; the glorious harmonies of Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble; and the Bay Area string duo Teslim, featuring violinist Kaila Flexer and multi-instrumentalist Gari Hegedus—with special guests violinists Julian Smedley, Shira Kammen, and Leah Wollenberg, harpist Liza Wallace, and percussionist Faisal Zedan.
