Gerineldo: 20-year reunion concert Tuesday, November 25, 8:00pm - 10:00pm Alliance Française de Toronto - Centre culturel 24 Spadina Road, Toronto, Ontario M5R2S7 After 20 years, GERINELDO—the only dedicated traditional Moroccan Judeo-Spanish ensemble - is doing a reunion concert in Toronto! We premiered it in Paris last March, and are now presenting it courtesy of the Alliance Française in Toronto. Myself, Tamar Ilana - who sang with us when she was five and six—with founder-director Oro Anahory-Librowicz and the grand master of haketía, Solly Levy, joined by Demetrios Petsalakis on oud. Old ballads of lost love, sly betrayal, and quirky twists of fate.... wedding songs mixing practical and spiritual concerns...Hebrew piyyutim... Bonus! a surprise guest singer; and Noam Sienna will be on hand with his intricate henna designs—and Sephardic community women will display Moroccan Sephardic wedding apparel.
