Casco Bay Tummlers w/Eric LaPerna, Portland, ME, 5 Feb 2015

The Casco Bay Tummlers

Friday, Feb 5, 7:00 - 9:00
Blue
650 Congress St.
Portland, ME

No door charge, but your donations are appreciated.

In November, three of us - Carl on flutes and guitar, John on bass and Steve on clarinet and sax - once again had a chance to play with Maine's own master of Middle Eastern percussion, Eric LaPerna. It was so much fun for us (and the audience) we sought out a venue for that lineup to play more regularly. We're pleased to say that Blue, located right in the middle of Portland (650 Congress St.) and one of the Port City's premier spots for all kinds of music, offered us a monthly appearance.

Inspector Gadje, San Francisco, CA, 7 Feb 2015

Inspector Gadje at Kafana Balkan Saturday February 7, 2015. 155 Fell St, San Francisco 9pm. Our 12 piece band will be joined by the celebrated Macedonian/Turkish clarinet maestro Ismail Lumanovski flying in from New York to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the Bay's most bumpin' Balkan dance party. Inspector Gadje brings a big sound to the beautiful brass band music of the Balkans - inciting joy and dancing from the first downbeat. Our name is a wink to the 1980's cartoon show "Inspector Gadget," and also to the band's "gadje" (non-Romani) identity and their efforts to breaking "Gypsy" stereotypes.
