From July 18 to August 9, we offer beginner through advanced workshops in Yiddish instrumental music (klezmer), vocal music, dance, language, and more, taught by some of today's leading artists. With participants of all ages and from all around the world, Yiddish Summer workshops touch the mind, heart, soul, and body. You won't believe how much you can learn in an atmosphere that is so open and supportive! It's no wonder that many of today's most creative and successful Yiddish music projects have roots in Yiddish Summer Weimar. Concerts, jam sessions in outdoor cafés, Yiddish dance events, and more contribute to the justly famous "Yiddish Summer Weimar" atmosphere during the Workshop Weeks.

A Concert Reading of the classic Yiddish operetta.

An orphan girl attracts a variety of suitors when she comes into an inheritance. In this concert production of Joseph Rumshinsky’s 1923 operetta, will be performed in Yiddish with English and Russian supertitles. This is accompanied by the Mason Gross Muzikers orchestra,which is playing for the first time in over 70 years.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for Rutgers alumni and employees and seniors, and only $5 for students with valid ID.

a concert celebrating the impact of Jewish songwriters on Broadway with special tribute to Theodore Bikel

Performed by a Broadway cast, “Another 100 Years” features popular showtunes spanning from Tin Pan Alley to contemporary musical theatre celebrating the influence of Jewish culture on Broadway. The concert is produced in conjunction with NYTF’s 101st Season and is performed in English.

The evening will feature a special tribute to Theodore Bikel (z”l), actor, singer-songwriter, legend, and friend of the NYTF. Longtime friends performing in his honor will include David Edwards (Broadway’s By Jeeves) who performed with Bikel in the original The Rothschilds and in Fiddler On The Roof, Jonathan Hadley (Broadway’s A Class Act and Bob Crewe in the National Tour of Jersey Boys) who performed opposite Bikel in the Fiddler National Tour and Peter Davenport who played Captain Von Trapp in the 1st National Tour of The Sound of Music.
