Pharaoh's Daughter, Rashanim, NYC, May 23

Counting Sheaves: Def Midrash Jam!! The Jam will bring together poetry and music dedicated to the dearest, the funkiest, and the most obscure midrashim, as well as our poets' own erratic interpretive inventions a-la midrash. Some of the hippest Jewish musicians in New York, Pharaoh's Daughter (middle-eastern psychedelic rock) and Rashanim (experimental jazz-rock) will continue the theme of artistic interpretation through their beats, rhythms and solos. Nehedar, the radical all-chick roots-and-funk band, hailing from Stern College, will open the show. Bring your own midrashic inventions: the open mic section will go late into the night (sign up starts at 7 pm). Sunday May 23rd, 7 pm * 308 Bowery, b/n Houston and Bleecker * $10 cover The event will be held at the famed Bowery Poetry Café in Greenwich Village. Please see our website for a preview of the event's poetry, music, photos, bios, links, directions and more: www.mimaamakim.org This is going to rock!!
