A journey in sound comprising reading and recordings from specific historical time periods: from American-bound ships to Ellis Island; from anthems to sweat shop songs; from lullabies and laments to the rollicking songs of the Yiddish theater.

This event is the first part of a 3 part series entitled:
Jewish-American Music.

2nd part- Tuesday, November 30th (Jewish Music into the Mainstream: Themes in Popular, Classical & Folk)
3rd part- Tuesday, December 21st (American-Jewish Music Comes of Age)

$15 per lecture/$40 for entire series
