Workshop topic is Defining and Exploring Blues Guitar and American Roots Music which starts at 7pm.

This special event is held in conjunction with the JCC Book Festival and the appearance of author Rich Cohen, who will discuss his latest book "Machers and Rockers: Chess Records and the Business of Rock and Roll", which deals with Jewish and African-American collaborations in the music industry.

Performance by Dan Stevens follows the book talk.

Dan Stevens' appearance is made possible with the support from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.

Dan Stevens is an acoustic blues and American roots music artist whose style centers around the acoustic fingerpicking tradition learned from bluesman Paul Rishell and the late folk legend Dave Van Ronk with whom he studied in NYC. Stevens' repertoire includes soulful originals and many bottleneck slide tunes in the spirit of the legendary blues masters. He has toured the US and parts of Europe and has appeared with James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Charlie Daniels and more.
