Friends of Jewish Choral Music: Gala Concert celebrating the 36th Anniversary of the Zamir Chorale of Boston, Joshua Jacobson founder and artistic director Sunday, June 5, 2005 7:30 PM Sanders Theatre, Harvard University Cambridge, MA
The gala program includes the world premiere of "Et HaZamir Higgia" by Yehezkel Braun (in memory of Zamir co-founder Lou Garber), "The Rainbow" for chorus, percussion and electronic tape by Daniel Pinkham, "Harninu" for chorus and trumpet by Cantor Benjie-Ellen Schiller, and "Shir Ahavah" for chorus and jazz trio by Jef Labes. After intermission an expanded-ZCB with alumni from the past 36 years, soloist Cantor Eliot Vogel and orchestra will perform Ernest Bloch's "Sacred Service." The composers on the first half will present a Meet the Composers panel prior to the concert at 6:15 PM. This concert promises to be a highlight of the musical season.
