Judith Berkson will be doing her Klezmer "thang" again at Tubapalooza. Last time she had me on the floor with her fabulous renditions of some Moishe Oysher tunes. She starts @ 9PM. Here's all of the info for the night.
Thanks,
Ron

This fourth installment in the popular TUBAPALOOZA series
includes three unique bands all featuring tubist Ron Caswell :
the amazing gypsy brass band Slavic Soul Party and the
burlesque circus band The Beat Circus. Opening the night is JudithBerkson's East River Orchestra.

Slavic Soul Party has forged a new brass band culture from the heart of Brooklyn, melding Gypsy, East European, Mexican, and Asian immigrant backgrounds with American jazz, groove, and soul. Led by percussionist Matt Moran, Slavic Soul Party averages 100 shows per year, including performances in the US, the Balkans, and Turkey.

The Beat Circus is a completely unique burlesque circus band based in Boston and spawned out of the resurgence in cabaret and vaudeville. Led by multi-instrumentalist Brian Carpenter and "discovered" in 2002 by The Dresden Dolls' Amanda Palmer, The Beat Circus combines music inspired by American Vaudeville, Weimer-era cabaret, and circus music. They have collaborated with burlesque and sideshow performers and have
performed at Coney Island, The Salvador Dali Museum, and shared the stage with such acts as The Dresden Dolls, Gogol Bordello, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

"The Beat Circus combines music, burlesque, comedy, acrobatics, and carny sleaze -- but in a good way" -- Time Out New York
