Klezmer ceilidh, Edinburgh, Scotland, Aug 26

Sunday 26 August from 3-6pm

Edinburgh Festival Fringe Hopkele

Be part of the first ever Scottish Klezmer Keilidh at Dancebase, 14-16 Grassmarket, Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Festival Hopkele is the familiar ceildih format, with one essential difference – it’s old-style Jewish, rather than Celtic!

Renowned Klezmer Dance Kaller Guy Schalom will lead and teach traditional Eastern European Yiddish circle, square and chain dances, including Freylekhs, Shers, Horas and Bulgars. And just to help put that extra ‘spring’ in your step will be klez-fiddler extraordinaire Ilana Cravitz and the Hopkele House Band (Dave Shulman –clarinet, John Bone – clarinet, Simon Carlyle – tuba) with the lively Jewish party music widely known as klezmer.

A Yiddish Barn Dance for the 21st century – not to be missed! If you can’t be there, tell your friendsÂ….

Tickets: £10. Bring a Pal: book two places at the same time and get the second half price (subject to availability). 0131 225 5525. www.dancebase.co.uk. Dancebase National Centre for Dance, 14-16 Grassmarket, Edinburgh EH1 2JU
