The group members draw from their vast experiences in all kinds of jazz forms—from the 1940's and '50s to present avant-improvised music, to quotes from Balkan and other native folk sources. Burton Greene has been on the jazz scene since 1962 both in New York and in Europe, where he has lived since the early '70s. His early '60s group the Free Form Improvisation Ensemble, with Alan Silva was one of the early inspirations for what would one day become NYC's downtown sound.
