Jewish Music: a celebration in three parts, Jan 25-27, 2008

Jewish Music & Dance: (Jan 25-27): The first part of the 2008 Linden Lectureship Series at Congregation Beth Israel in Charlottesville (01 East Jefferson Street, Phone 434 295-6382) will be weekend workshops on Jewish dance led by Steve Weintraub, a nationally recognized authority on authentic Eastern European dance. He has a special gift for sharing the style, flavor, steps, and context of Yiddish dance. For many years, he has led weekend retreats and longer workshops on Jewish dance around the country. Music will be provided by the UVA Klezmer Ensemble under the direction of Joel Rubin

Sat, Jan 26 (7:30 pm): Havdalah service and refreshments, followed by a "lecture-demo." Steve will give a slide show presentation and demonstration on the history of Jewish dance.
