8th Klezmerquerque Fest, Albuquerque, NM, 11-14 Feb 2010

"KLEZMERQUERQUE" Albuquerque New Mexico's annual Klezmer music and dance festival celebrates its 8th year from February 11-14, 2010 (Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon over Presidents Day weekend).

Friday's events will begin at 6:30pm with the Old World Shabbat service, followed by a vegetarian potluck dinner at 7pm. From 7:45-10:00pm there will be dancing led by Rikud Yiddish dance troupe and Deborah Strauss. Music will be provided by the 25-piece intergenerational Nahalat Shalom Community Klezmer Band, The Rebbe's Orkestra - the popular Albuquerque-based klezmer & Judaic ensemble, and The Strauss/Warschauer Duo. Deborah Strauss dancing while playing her violin is a spectacular and uplifting performance. The price for Friday alone is a $15-$18 suggested donation.
