Our program commemorates the 500 year anniversary of the founding of the Venice Ghetto and the 400 years since Shakespeare's death. It's a fun program that combines Jewish repertoire: songs and liturgy in Yiddish, Hebrew, Italian, Jewish-Spanish (and Catalan!) with 'mainstream' songs and dances from 16th century Venice; the whole rounded off with texts drawn from Leon Modena's autobiography and legal documents of the era.
