Pharaoh's Daughter, Rashanim, NYC, May 23

Counting Sheaves: Def Midrash Jam!! The Jam will bring together poetry and music dedicated to the dearest, the funkiest, and the most obscure midrashim, as well as our poets' own erratic interpretive inventions a-la midrash. Some of the hippest Jewish musicians in New York, Pharaoh's Daughter (middle-eastern psychedelic rock) and Rashanim (experimental jazz-rock) will continue the theme of artistic interpretation through their beats, rhythms and solos. Nehedar, the radical all-chick roots-and-funk band, hailing from Stern College, will open the show. Bring your own midrashic inventions: the open mic section will go late into the night (sign up starts at 7 pm). Hip Hop Hoodios, NYC, Jun 5

Hip Hop Hoodíos @ The Salute To Israel Parade

Further evidence that Latin hip-hop knows no cultural boundaries, Latino-Jewish urban music collective Hip Hop Hoodios will be performing at the Salute to Israel Parade in New York City along Fifth Avenue on Sunday, June 5th. The annual parade is a non-partisan, non-political celebration of the existence of the State of Israel and a tribute to its people and their achievements. One-hundred thousand marchers and close to one-million spectators take part in this event annually. This year marks the first time that a prominent Latin act has been booked to perform at the Parade. Hip Hop Hoodios are currently touring in support of their critically-acclaimed full length debut "Agua Pa' La Gente", which includes members of The Klezmatics, Santana, Midnight Minyan and Jaguares as guests.

The Parade route begins at 57th Street and Fifth Avenue and continues north on Fifth Avenue to 79th Street.

The Parade takes place each year, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Rain or Shine.

Yid Vicious at 2nd Annual Buenos Aires KlezFest, Nov 7-22

Wisconsin's Yid Vicious makes its first voyage across the equator to perform at KlezFiesta, the second annual international Klezmer festival in Argentina. Yid Vicious joins performers from 6 countries and every corner of Argentina to perform at the festival, which takes place November 7-15 in Buenos Aires, and November 16-22 in Mendoza and Cordoba. Yid Vicious' appearance at KlezFiesta is supported by a grant from USArtists International, a program of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
